I have been a true blue fan of the original Encantadia. So when I heard that GMA is going to have a remake of that legendary series, I was skeptical. I never thought that the actors who portrayed the lead roles could ever be replaced.
But, I was proven wrong. The moment I saw and watched Mikee Quintos, I knew that they made the right decision to cast her as Lira. She is perfect for the role that was originally played by Jennylyn Mercado.
Many years and many projects later, Mikee had proven that she is more than a hyped actor. She has portrayed in many commendable roles and had proven her worth as an actress. Mikee was born as Mikaela Marie Javier Quintos on December 18, 1997 in Sampaloc, Manila to politician parents. Because of her parents’ career, she has been exposed to the public during their campaigns, singing publicly for them. She has three other sisters named Loisa, Denise and Jodee.
Mikee had been pursuing her bachelor’s degree at the University of Santo Tomas, concentrating on Architecture.
Mikee had begun her career through her passion – in YouTube. In this platform, she was discovered. She first appeared in television in the remake of the hit fantasy-serye Encantadia in 2016. Mikee played the role of Diwani/Sangre Lira/Milagros Quizon, which was originally played by veteran actress Jennylyn Mercado.
In the same year, she landed a role in Usapang Real Love, a drama romantic comedy anthology broadcasted in GMA Network. She appeared in the episode Perfect Fit which aired from October 23 to November 20. She was paired with Andre Paras.
STEADY RISE IN SHOWBUSINESS
Although Mikee had debuted as a lead role in Encantadia, she never backed out from work regardless what it is. In 2017, she has been prolific in doing television series. First with Tadhana: Millionaire Maid, a drama anthology hosted by Marian Rivera. Then, Mikee appeared in the comedy anthology Dear Uge: Hot Mama with Ruffa Gutierrez.
In the same year, she appeared as a guest role in the Mulawin vs. Ravena, a television fantasy drama that starred Dennis Trillo, Heart Evangelista and Lovi Poe. IN 2018, Mikee landed another lead role in the television drama family series Onanay (The Way To Your Heart). She acted besides Kate Valdez, Cherie Gil and Nora Aunor. She also appeared on the fantasy series ‘Sirkus’ with Mikoy Morales.
Mikee is also extremely talented and not just a good actress. In 2018-2019, she was a co-host and performer in the television variety show Studio 7 which was presented by Christian Bautista, Julie Ann San Jose and Mark Bautista.
One of Mikee’s notable projects so far is The Lost Recipe which was aired from January 18 to March 31 this year. The drama, romance, fantasy series tells the story of a chef who managed to travel in time, specifically during the Spanish era to meet Conchita Valencia, the Mother of Philippine Cuisine. Mikee was paired with Kelvin Miranda. The series was written by Ervin Bravo and was directed by Monti Puno Parungao.
Mikee’s versatility as a comedic actress is now being showcased as she plays the role of the Young Elsa Dela Cruz (originally played by Manilyn Reynes) in the ongoing chapter of Pepito Manaloto: Ang Unang Kuwento, where her chemistry with Sef Cadayona is being tested. And my – they click!
Mikee will reunite with her love team Kelvin Miranda on the project Regal Studio Presents: Promises to Keep which will be aired on October 17. The two actors will portray the role of Eloy (Kelvin) and Jenny (Mikee) who are two childhood sweethearts reunited. After living in the United States for a long time, Jenny will be back to their provincial home, which was being taken care of Eloy’s family.
