Things You Didn’t Know About Janella Salvador

YOU FIRST saw her on the popular television series “Be Careful With My Heart” as the middle child of Sir Chief (played by Richard Yap) who often speaks in Taglish. With her iconic lines, you have grown fond of her.

But before her television debut, this talented young lady already appeared on stage. Given her background, it was not surprising to see her on stage.

Apart from famous parents, there is more to Janella Salvador than what meets the eye. Her career, only budding had already won her recognitions from award giving bodies. Let us get to know her more in this article.

Early life

She was born Janella Maxine Desiderio Salvador on March 30, 1998 in Cebu. But she spent most of her growing up years in San Juan City. She came from a family of musicians or musical artist.

Her dad is the award-winning songwriter from the famous Salvador family – Juan Miguel Salvador. While her mother is the musical actress Jenine Desiderio (who was a cast in West End’s Miss Saigon musical.

Stage to Stardom

She inherited her love for music at a young age. She has been appearing on stage ever since she was young. When she was about ten years old, she was the country’s representative to the world trade fair in South Korea. At that same age, she participated in the musical “Paul! Paul!”

Her debut to the silver screen was with her work on the series “Be Careful With My Heart” in 2012. She played the role of Nikki Grace Lim, one of Maya’s (played by Jodi Sta. Maria) ward. She won numerous awards for her portrayal of the role, including the 27th PMPC Star Awards for Television Best New Female TV Personality and 45th GMMSF Box-Office Entertainment Awards Most Promising Female Star.

She was finally given her first big project as the lead star in the morning series ‘OMG’. Later on, she starred in the Kapamilya Primetime shows ‘Born for You’ with Elmo Magalona and ‘The Killer Bride’ with Maja Salvador and Joshua Garcia.

Music Projects

She released her self-titled album in 2015 with Star Music, which reached 2x platinum in 2017. At the same year, she also staged her first solo concert which is “Super Janella”. During this concert, her mom, Jenine Desiderio joined her on the stage. Together, they sang “Iingatan Ka”.

She also interpreted the song “Wow Na Feelings” composed by Karlo Zabala in the Himig Handog 2017. It won the TFC’s Global Choice Award despite only placing 4th in the contest.

Janella also appeared in two music videos as herself. She was in Enchong Dee’s music video for the song “Chinito Problems” in 2015. She then again appeared in the 2017 music video for the song “Unli” by the BoybandPH.

Janella starred in her first movie lead role in the film “Haunted Mansion” in 2015. She played the role of Ella Jimenez who went on a retreat house which happened to be haunted by the supernatural. For her performance in this role, she won the 32nd PMPC Star Awards for Movies – New Movie Actress of the Year.

Her other films include “Mano Po 7: Tsinoy” where she played the role of Caroline Wong, “Bloody Crayons” which is another horror film directed by Topel Lee (she played the character of  Eunice Nicolas,  “My Fairy Tail Love Story” where she played the human turned mermaid Chantel Quejada, “So Connected” where she was paired with the hottie Jameson Blake and “The Heiress” where she played the niece of Luna (the character of Maricel Soriano).

Janella is in a relationship with Markus Paterson, a Filipino-British actor, model and professional footballer for about two years now. He describes Janella as the “love of his life” and “his world”. On the other hand, Janella calls him “the best potato in the world”. They had made their relationship public last September 2020.

The couple seems to have a good relationship with each other’s family as Janella’s mom had celebrated her birthday in the UK where Markus’ family is currently based.

Recently, the pregnancy rumors of Janella and Markus had been escalated as Markus accidentally posted a woman in a hospital bed (presumed to be Janella) and a newly born baby. Although the posts were deleted immediately, followers were able to screenshot the post.
