Julia Barretto after doing horror film ‘Bahay Na Pula’: ‘It was a major turning point in my life’

“I’m really scared of horror if I’m being honest. And the only thing that really made me say yes to this film was Direk Brillante, one, and second is just how beautiful the story is and the history behind the story and injected into the story,” rason ng dalaga.

Ani Julia, “You know what, at the end of the day, it’s about trusting your director and trusting yourself. And I think the reason why I trusted myself in the process of creating this film was that everybody on the set trusted me. So I think isa yon na malaking factor kung bakit nagawa namin yung mga kailangan naming gawin.

“The day before pitching,  just the day before pitching, they told me that Direk Brillante wated to pitch a project to me. I knew right there and then that it was a yes. I didn’t know the story, I had no idea it was horror, I had zero clue, but I knew it was a yes.”

“I told Direk sabi ko, ‘My whole career I vowed to myself, na hindi ako gagawa ng horror,’ ganun ako ka-matatakutin. But you know, God really has ways of making you do things that you don’t expect to do, and I think He put me in the situation where I couldn’t say no to Direk Brillante and this horror film,” dagdag niyang paliwanag.

Napanood na ni Julia ang Bahay na Pula sa ginanap na Vivamax screening nito sa isang sinehan at ayon sa kanya masaya siya at overwhelmed sa kinalabasan ng pelikula.

“Unang-una, when we did the presscon right after the screening I was really nervous for some reason. I think because it was the first time na humarap ulit sa press after two years. Parang hindi na ako sanay na nakakaharap kayo.

“I remember when the film started, kahit na alam ko naman yung mga eksena, kahit alam ko naman yung mgapangyayari kinu-cover ko pa rin yung  eyes ko because you really never know what to expect with Direk and true enough I thought I knew the film as a whole but ang daming mga na interject don na mga eksena na talagang gives you a complete and whole understanding of what this movie is all about and what it’s really trying to tell  sa moviegoers.

“I do agree that this is really a wild experience if you watch it on the big screen… I really love the film actually. I like the treatment and the way the story was told. I was scared but aside from being scared  it is an experience and it was so well done by Direk ang ganda ng pagkakagawa. And I keep telling him na we’ve got to make one more film  kasi nabitin ako sobra.

“I’m happy, I’m very happy that I did this. I think it was a major turning point in my life,” pagmamalaki ni Julia.

Ang Bahay na Pula is a story about a couple who is about to experience the fright of their lives after moving to anew home. Streaming na ngayon ang pelikula sa Vivamax.
