Joey de Leon at Vice Ganda, kapwa may pagka-immature at insensitive

Joey-de-Leon-Vice-GandaMOST PEOPLE—sa aminin man nila o hindi—find the so-called parinig as their convenient excuse to get back at people they hate without direct reference.

Over the week, naging kontrobersiyal ang pagpapasaring nina Joey de Leon at Vice Ganda in their shows, Eat Bulaga and It’s Showtime, respectively.

JDL—comparing the AlDub success—employed a figure of speech.

Earlier, Vice Ganda—in all humility—conceded to their rival show. Parang Vice Ganda slipped into a different character, malayo sa kanyang public image na isa ring mapagmataas na tao kung magsalita.

But wait until another video went viral on social media kung saan ang pinuntirya na ni Vice Ganda ay ang GMA, subtly making it appear that his joke was directed to GMA, Cavite.

These are two stories of parinigan which—we believe—the respective viewers of Eat Bulaga and It’s Showtime do not deserve. Tumututok ang kani-kanilang mga manonood to get entertained, to keep their minds off the pressing problems they face every single day, at hindi ang makihalo sa kung ano ang ipinagsisintir ng mga host ng dalawang show sa isa’t isa.

In the long run, ang pumatol sa mga ganu’ng parunggit does not in any way help either show gain or lose, ratings-wise. It’s not the mutual mud-slinging that the audience is excited about para panoorin, but rather the brand of entertainment that both shows offer.

At it begins with its hosts.
