Things You Didn’t Know About Rocco Nacino

HE MAY not have won the Ultimate Male Survivor in Starstruck 5, but you cannot deny the fact that Rocco Nacino bested his batchmates when it comes to surviving in the real world of showbiz.

More than ten years had passed, but Rocco Nacino remains relevant in his home network, GMA. They trust him with challenging TV projects and a lot of movie producers consider him too.

Even now that he is happily married, GMA Network stil trusts him with a big drama project entitled ‘To Have & To Hold’ with Carla Abellana and Max Collins. Get to know more about the versatile actor!

EARLY LIFE

Rocco was born as Enrico Raphael Quiogue Nacino on March 21, 1987 in the City of Pines – Baguio City, Philippines. Although born in the Philippines, he spent a significant amount of his childhood years in Singapore, where he studied Nursery up to Primary 6. During that time, he learned to speak Mandarin.

His secondary education was spent in Makati Hope Christian School. He pursued is bachelor’s degree at the Mapua Institute of Technology where he got his Bachelors Degree in Nursing. He is also a licensed nurse after he passed his licensure examination last June 2009.

CAREER BEGINNINGS

Rocco had joined the Mister and Miss Cardinals pageant and won Mister Cardinals in 2005. Because of this, he has been tapped to do television commercials and even had appeared in print media. Among his endorsements are for the brands Goya, Jollibee, Chowking, Smart, Vaseline and Skyflakes.

His appearance in the reality artista search StarStruck in 2009 made him a household name. Although he did not won the grand prize, he was proclaimed the Second Prince. The following year, he appeared in the drama romance series Gumapang Ka Sa Lusak opposite Dennis Trillo and Jennylyn Mercado.

BREAKTHROUGH

The television drama romance series Mistaken Identity had been among his projects where he shone best. He was the lead actor together with the talented Lovi Poe. Although the series only had 6 episodes, the show proved that he could be a leading man material.

Rocco also starred in the high rating television drama series The Good Daughter. In this series, he worked with Kylie Padilla, Max Collins, LJ Reyes and Raymond Bagatsing. He landed another lead role in the series Yesterday’s Bride in 2013 which starred Lovi Poe. He played the role of Justin Ramirez, the rich and sheltered heir who fell in love with the family’s maid. Their partnership continued with ‘Akin Pa Rin ang Bukas’.

His recent work includes appearing in the Philippine remake Descendants of The Sun, Owe My Love and To Have and To Hold.

MUSICAL ENDEAVORS

Apart from being a terrific actor and a sought after endorser, Rocco is also a recording artist. He first released his studio album Rocco Nacino in 2011 under the PolyEast Records which was a Double Platinum certified by the Philippine Association of the Record Industry or PARI. In the same year, he also released the expanded platinum edition of the album called Rocco Nacino: Sana Pinatay Mo Na Lang Ako.

Only after a year, he released his second studio album called To Love Again under the same label. It was certified Platinum under PARI. Finally, Rocco released his third album in 2014 called Only One.

ACCOLADES

Balut Country premiered at the 28th Tokyo International Film Festival last October which was also attended by the film’s main actor Rocco Nacino

A multi awarded actor, Rocco had already been gaining recognitions and awards ever since he started in showbusiness. His first major acting award was given at the 28th PMPC Star Awards for Movies for his work in the film Ang Sayaw ng Dalawang Kaliwang Paa in 2012 as New Movie Actor. Also in the same year, he was awarded as the Breakthrough Performance by an Actor in the 9th Golden Screen Awards for the same film.

His last award was given by the 31st PMPC Star Awards for TV for being the German Moreno Power Tandem Award. This award was given with Sanya Lopez.
